Sprout Outdoors is a new resource for information on gear, tips and news for today’s active, outdoor, on-the-go families. We write about products and topics that help you and your family achieve an active lifestyle, spend more time outdoors, stay healthy, be mobile as a family, introduce kids to new experiences, and keep things as relatively simple as possible along the way (ok, simple is a relative term we know, when it comes to kids).

Sprout Outdoors was founded by editor Melissa DiPalma and is designed to appeal to a growing niche of active, eco-conscious parents who enjoy spending time outdoors and traveling with their kids.

Prior to launching Sprout Outdoors, Melissa and her husband Glen, spent three years managing an online retail store specializing in outdoor gear for kids. As a result, they have seen, used and helped customers with countless baby/kids gear products and developed valuable inside knowledge of both the baby and outdoor gear market.

In addition to this market experience, Melissa and Glen are also experienced outdoor enthusiasts and frequent travelers who have hiked, camped, skied, windsurfed and explored four continents, a dozen countries and lived in both New Zealand and Switzerland. Their greatest adventure now involves being the parents of two small children. Getting through the airport with a two year old? Hiking with a six month old? They’ve been there, done that.

Unlike many other “mommy” or “daddy” blogs and websites, Sprout Outdoors is written for parents who want to do more than “survive” parenthood, they want to enjoy the adventure along the way and include their children in their interests. Our readers are looking for more than the latest “fabulous” finds, they want products and information that help them do more as a family.
